The Columbo Times - an online Sri Lankan daily - has the following report on the condition of the Sri Lankan cricketers injured in the Lahore attack:
Local Cricket Board says injured cricketer Thilan Samaraweera has undergone a two-hour surgery and is reported to be safe and stable.
He was shot on his leg during the armed attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore. Samaraweera, who scored successive Test double-centuries in Pakistan, was the worst affected from the terrorist attack. He was admitted to a private hospital on arrival in Colombo yesterday.
The condition of other cricketers who were injured in the recent terrorist attack in Pakistan and admitted to hospitals in Colombo is improving. Head of the Sports Ministry Medical Unit Dr. Geethanjana Mendis said Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavithana underwent surgeries and their conditions are stable. Kumar Sangakkara who was admitted with minor injuries was discharged today. Ajantha Mendis and Assistant Coach Paul Farbrace continue to receive indoor treatment but their conditions are improving.
